The new tower allows for current and future expansion of the hospital's cardiovascular department.

Saunders was selected as the CM/GC by AdventHealth for the new Heart & Vascular Tower at Littleton Adventist Hospital. The new addition is approximately 86,500 square feet and is comprised of five above-grade stories above the basement. The expansion includes new lab spaces, procedure rooms, waiting areas, operating rooms, a 24-bed ICU specifically for cardiac care and associated support spaces. The project allows for current and future expansion of the hospital鈥檚 cardiovascular department.

Saunders was later awarded the central utility plant (CUP) expansion to support the tower expansion. The team is adding a new chiller and space for a future chiller to the existing CUP building.

Once complete, the Heart and Vascular Tower will provide a full spectrum of services in one place, including minimally invasive procedures, open heart surgery, cardiac catheterization, and more. Specialists will have leading-edge technology to treat the most complicated cases. The first patients are expected in early 2025.

• The total weight of all the concrete and rebar for the project will be over 13 tons. That鈥檚 the same weight as 42,220,000 human hearts!
• Crews will be using about 123 miles of rebar. That鈥檚 roughly the distance from the hospital to Cheyenne, Wyoming.
• There will be roughly 6400 cubic yards of concrete placed, which would fill 2 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
• There will be about 12,550 square feet of glass which would cover nearly 3 NBA courts.
• There will be roughly 80,000 bricks on the new project. If laid end-to-end they would stretch approximately 10 miles.
• The building foundation will be supported by drilled piers. The total length of all the piers added together is nearly half a mile.
